Burning Days follows the story of a young and dedicated prosecutor, who is newly appointed to a small Turkish town. hit by a water crisis and political scandals. After an initial welcome, he experiences an increasing number of tense interactions and is reluctantly dragged into local politics, forming a bond with the owner of the local newspaper that generates heated rumours.The movie explores what happens when a young idealist comes face to face with the conservative, right-wing, and self-serving populism that's prevalent in today’s society.

Written and directed by Emin Alper (Frenzy, 2015; A Tale of Three Sisters, 2019), Burning Days is produced by Liman Film and Zola Yaoim from Turkey, co-produced by Pola Pandora (Germany), Circe Films (The Netherlands), Horsefly Productions (Greece), and 4 Film LTD (Croatia). In co-production with 4film, the film achieved the status of a minority Croatian co-production and secured the support of the Croatian Audiovisual Center.

Among Croatian filmmakers, Goran Mečava worked on the film as the steadycam operator, Krešimir Rodić as the sound recordist, and Daniel Žuvela as the boom operator.

The film has been selected in the prestigious Un Certain Regard category at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, which highlights exquisite auteur cinema and the rising talents in the industry. The premiere will take place on May 23rd, 2022.
