The Office for Human Rights and the Rights of National Minorities of the Government of the Republic of Croatia in cooperation with 4Film has launched a national campaign "Start the Wheel of Knowledge" to encourage the inclusion of Roma men and women in education, as a key precondition for equal inclusion in all other areas.
Although the Romani are one of the 22 national minorities recognized by the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia, many members of this minority still live in extreme poverty, in segregated settlements and excluded from the mainstream of social life of the majority community.
The aim of the media campaign was to raise awareness of the Romani community about the importance of educational integration of children and young members of the Roma national minority at all levels, with special emphasis on educational programs in which children belonging to the Roma national minority are significantly less present than the rest of the population - preschool and high school education.
